The Rejection of the Success of Opposition in the Local Elections is not an Acceptable Conduct for the Turkish Democracy

Turkey has made 15 elections during the last 17 years under AKP regime. The local elections of the 31 March 2019 is the first of these elections that the ruling party has objected the results. AKP government has lost the three largest cities of Turkey to the opposition after 25 years. Now it declares the Istanbul elections was shady and asks for the a re-election.
We believe that the final results of the Istanbul elections must be announced by the Supreme Committee of Elections immediately. The Turkish Constitution and the International Law protect the right to free elections that embodies the peaceful change of the elected persons. The only examples to the contrary of this fact are the third world dictatorships.
We openly declare that the Turkish people knows the truth about the elections. The candidate who receives more votes wins the elections in anywhere in the world including our country. The law and the trust of the people to the law must not be damaged any more. In history, no one could stand against the will of the people. The winning parties of the last local elections are concrete. Law would be necessary for everyone one day.
Izmir Bar Association continues its struggle of human rights and democracy with a vision of contemporary civilization. Izmir Bar will not allow the destruction of the Turkish democracy.
